Almost everyone in the house is bursting with excitement and desperate to play with the newest member of the family.

You probably must have been planning the arrival of your new fur-baby for months or maybe even years. Even the daydreaming of all the fun you guys are going to have together is too much to handle.

Everything is personalized and ready to welcome the new puppy and help them settle in straight away. You might have even received a gift bundle from friends and family.

Puppy ownership comes with many perks and responsibilities. By becoming a puppy owner, you are taking responsibility for another life! You might be figuring out whether to buy or adopt your new friend.

For me, the answer was pretty clear. I fell in love with an adorable rescue, who became a part of my household.

But regardless of your decision of buying or adopting, I always recommend adopting, due to its endless benefits. If you are still not convinced, read on for top five reasons why you should always adopt and not buy:

Top 5 Reason For Adopting

Here are five reasons why you should adopt your new best puppy.

1. You Will Save a Life

It is estimated that each year in the US alone, around one million adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized, simply because too many pets come into shelters and even fewer people consider adoption.

This number of animal euthanizations can be reduced dramatically if more people are inclined towards adoption. When you adopt, you will save a life by making a loving animal part of your family.

2. You Will Get a Healthy Pet

Animal rescues and shelters are teeming with healthy and happy pets, waiting for a loving owner to take them home.

Most puppies wound up in shelters because of human issues like divorces and relocations. Many of these animals are fully house trained and healthy, so they are ideal to move to a new family.

  1. It Will Cost You Less

When you adopt a puppy, the cost of vaccinations, microchipping, spaying/neutering is included in the adoption price.

All these amount to a substantial sum of money, and you can save a lot of upfront costs. Also depending on the animal, you might save a lot on housebreaking and training expenses.

4. You Will Feel Better About Yourself

Animals, especially puppy are known to give unconditional love. Owning a pet has many psychological, emotional, and physical benefits.

Caring for and providing for a puppy can provide a sense of purpose and alleviate feelings of loneliness. Also, you will feel great helping an animal in need

  1. It's A Way to Fight Puppy Mills

If you buy a puppy from an online or pet store, then you are certainly supporting puppy mills.

Puppies from puppy mills are kept in extremely poor conditions with improper housing and dismal housing. This results in a sick puppy both physically and mentally with a lot of behaviour problems. And after the breeding dogs are no more profitable they are simply killed or abandoned.

So by adopting a puppy, you can be certain you aren't giving them any of your hard-earned money at the same time discouraging them.
